Connie Herberg attended both NDSU Fargo, ND and EMC (now MSU) Billings, MT, graduating with a B.A. in Fine Art.  Along with her education, her experience includes an amalgamation of workshops, peer influences, self-study, practice and passion.  Connie maintains a studio in Shepherd, MT where she paints and occasionally teaches. 

Landscape is an integral part of her life and remains an overarching theme in her work.  Growing up as part of the land, the oldest of four in a farming family, in the NW corner of North Dakota, she was strongly influenced by her mother and maternal grandmother and their creative pursuits.

Nature is the classroom and her inspiration.  Concentrating on the landscape as subject, she gathers subject matter while hunting, fishing, and camping. Connie places a strong emphasis on drafting skills and observation from life, believing that developing an understanding of the subject and mastering the transcription from observation to art form is the key to great art.  

Her work has been included in many local, regional, and national shows and competitions, as well as a Northlight Publication on drawing.  Connie has had the honor of seeing her work purchased by the Department of the Interior, SW MT Veterans Home, Stockman Banks, Richland County Museum’s permanent collection, business, corporate, and personal collections nationally.
